Buying Sapphires

Before purchasing sapphire jewelry, look at several stones first. Determine what colors you prefer and try to train your eyes to see beyond the glitter.

Examine first the intensity of the gem's color. Then look at the surface. Is the gemstone clear? Are there any man-made imperfections (polish cuts, etc)? Most sapphire pieces contain a degree of inclusions and stones fee of these command very high prices. Try to find a stone that looks clear to the naked eye.

When purchasing gems, always purchase from reliable jewelers who can guarantee the quality of their stones.
